The Friends of Leicester Library announced the Leicester Library Giving Garden project in 2020 and broke ground in the spring of 2021, installing cedar post fencing, a welcome gate, and raised beds.
The entire garden vision is a multi-phase project to develop an open-access food forest, located at the beautiful, hill-top Leicester Library property. Phase One focused on the installation of an enclosed annual garden, where volunteers will grow food and share knowledge.
We aim to encourage community building, lifelong learning and environmental stewardship. This project is by the community for the community.
Donations of in-kind gifts of supplies or financial support is greatly appreciated. Given the library’s location and our altruistic aims for the garden, your donations support a highly visible and visited community project.
If this is a project that means something to you, then please consider making a small (or large!) donation to the garden.
Online/Credit Card donations can be left through PayPal by scanning or clicking on the QR code above.
Cash or Checks can be left with Leicester Library staff in an envelope clearly marked ‘Leicester Library Giving Garden.’ Please make checks payable to ‘Friends of Leicester Library’ memo line: Giving Garden. Please leave a name and contact so we can be sure to thank you! You can also mail check to the library at 1561 Alexander Rd, Leicester, NC 28748.
We encourage everyone to become a Friend of Leicester Library. It costs $15 per year and supports the organization that is supporting this garden! Supporting the Friends is also a way to support all sorts of other library-related activities. You can become a friend at the Leicester Branch, when you fill out the form ask for a green sticker to show that you are a Giving Garden Friend, and consider doubling your $15 to support the garden!
Lastly, perhaps you can donate any old tools you may have and don’t use. Every little bit helps! Email us at email@example.com to discuss our needs. We also have many people donating their time, learn more about how to get involved.
This garden is run by volunteers. We will do our best to reply to questions within 48 hours, but ask forgiveness if that doesn’t happen!
