JUNE
We kicked off the summer season with “An Evening in the Garden”, our first official garden party! We invited our community out to the library to celebrate the hard work & collaboration between all who have made the Leicester Library Giving Garden possible. It was an evening filled with great conversations, live music by local bluegrass band Buncombe Turnpike, a variety of food & drink, AND an appearance by some of Mount Gilead’s cutest baby goats. More garden parties dates to be announced!

JULY
We believe everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious food – and we’ve watched our giving garden vision come to fruition with bountiful midsummer tomato, pepper, squash, cucumber, eggplant (and more!) harvests to share with our community!

AUGUST
With the plants established & producing, you can find volunteers on our Saturday & Thursday work days maintaining the gardens, keeping up with harvesting & weeding. And thanks to generous donations, we’ve been able to buy a new greenhouse and have started construction!

Feeling inspired to start your own garden? Or maybe looking to learn a few more tips & tricks? No registration required for the Master Gardener Series at the Leicester Library, starting Thursday, August 25th from 6:30 – 7:30
